About the Project
RTL 7 launched the program Living Like a Pro in the fall of 2011. In this show, members of a football team had the chance to live like professional footballers for a year.
The men’s channel and Eredivisie sponsor Nivea provided the winning team with their own team bus, kits, a training session at Huis ter Duin with an Eredivisie coach, tailored suits, watches, sunglasses, and their own club anthem, performed by Wolter Kroes.
Additionally, a professional dugout was installed at their field for future home matches, and a jacuzzi was placed in the locker room, along with a year’s supply of Nivea care products. RTL 7 also broadcast a live match featuring the winners against the RTL 7 All-Star Team.
Football teams in the Netherlands could sign up from September via the program’s website. The twelve-episode series was broadcast partly that fall and partly in early 2012.
By submitting content through the campaign website, an editorial team made a selection, after which reporter Harry Vermegen visited an amateur club to nominate them for a year of Living Like a Pro.
